Vacuum Casting
Vacuum casting is a low-volume moulding technique that uses silicone moulds and polyurethane (PU) materials to create high-quality parts. The process begins with a CNC-machined ABS master model, which is used to create a silicone mould. Once cured, the mould is split open, and the master part is removed, leaving behind a cavity that can be filled with PU material.
The mould is placed in a vacuum casting machine, where air is removed, and liquid PU is poured into the cavity. After curing, the result is a highly detailed, accurate reproduction of the original part. With a wide range of PU materials available, vacuum casting can even simulate injection-moulded plastics, making it ideal for rapid prototyping, small-batch production, and pre-production testing.
